Privacy Policy

What this site is

Pluie d'Étoiles Filantes (https://meteorshower.app/en) is a meteor-shower forecasting website. This policy covers the website only. We are not yet operating a mobile app — when we do, that app will have its own privacy policy covering account data, notifications, and purchases.

What we collect today

The website itself does not require an account and does not use tracking or advertising cookies. The only personal data we collect is:

• Email address, only if you voluntarily submit it to join our launch waitlist. We use this solely to notify you when the mobile app becomes available and, if you opt in, about meteor showers visible from your area. We process this through a third-party email service provider acting as our data processor; we don’t sell or share your email with anyone else.
• Standard server logs from our hosting provider (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages requested) — the ordinary technical logs any web server keeps, used only for security and reliability, not for tracking individuals.

If your browser sends a location request on a shower page (the “use my location” feature), that coordinate is used only in your browser to compute the forecast shown to you — it is never sent to or stored on our servers.

If we add analytics or additional data collection in the future, we’ll update this policy first.

Legal basis and your rights

Where GDPR or similar law applies, our legal basis for the waitlist email is your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time. You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you — email us (see below) and we’ll act on it promptly, generally within 30 days.

Retention

We keep waitlist emails until the app launches and you’ve had a chance to sign up there, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first. Server logs are kept only as long as our hosting provider’s default retention window.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update the “last updated” date above whenever this policy changes and, for material changes, make that clear on the site.
